From 2010 all children within our cluster of schools will have access to a range of extended services. Many of our schools will continue to develop a rich mix of services and activities, however the CORE OFFER provided by our cluster will be:
Childcare
We hope to offer childcare in response to demand shown through consultation, and this will be provided between 8am-6pm, five days a week, based on community need.Where possible this will be on the school site, however it may occasionally be at another school site or provider such as a Children's Centre.
Activities
A varied menu of activities that might include study support (for example homework clubs), arts and creative activities, sports and other recreational activities.
Parenting
We hope to provide structured parenting programmes as well as more informal opportunities for parents to engage with the school and each other. We will organise family learning sessions to allow children to learn with their parents and provide information for parents at the beginning of primary and secondary phases.
Advice
We will work closely with other statutory services and the voluntary, community and faith sectors providing support for children and young people who have additional needs or who are at risk of poor outcomes. We will introduce additional enhanced processes within schools to help us to identify those most at risk.
Community
Where a school within the cluster has facilities suitable for use by the wider community (e.g.playing fields, halls, rooms and additional facilities etc) we will look to open these up to meet wider community needs in response to an assessment of local demand.
